ClassroomEQ Solutions was founded by Janicia J. Lomax, a veteran educator with extensive experience in Title I schools. What began as a focus on social-emotional learning (SEL) has evolved into a groundbreaking neurobiological approach to classroom behavior management.
Our journey started with addressing emotional intelligence in the classroom, hence our name "ClassroomEQ." As we deepened our understanding of behavioral challenges, we incorporated cutting-edge neuroscience research, developing our proprietary Art of Emotional Thinking framework that focuses on prefrontal-limbic integration.
At the core of our methodology is the understanding that behavioral challenges often stem from developmental gaps between the prefrontal cortex (responsible for executive function, planning, decision-making) and the limbic system (responsible for emotional processing and reactivity). These neural pathways develop at different rates in children, with the limbic system maturing earlier than the prefrontal cortex.
Our Art of Emotional Thinking framework specifically targets these neural connections, creating structured interventions that strengthen prefrontal-limbic integration and help students develop more effective emotional regulation and decision-making abilities.
ClassroomEQ Solutions has pioneered seven integrated innovations that revolutionize behavioral support in education:
Creating seamless prefrontal-limbic development across all environments through parent training, home environment assessment, and consistent implementation strategies.
Our neurobiological approach has demonstrated remarkable outcomes in partner districts:
